Deus ex machina

I don't think I've ever had a connection with God. I've never felt his presence... nor did he change me. In one way or another.

I've always considered religion to be a part of the history we've built throughout centuries. It's a core for all the governmental laws and moral rules we follow nowadays. However, religion hasn't been holding up to the influence it once had before.

In many cases, parents christianize their children not because they want them to follow the right path. But because it's an option, it's a set obligation by society they were raised in. So the value of religion they try to build for their offspring is weak.

Religion has become more fragile due to the lack of modern scriptures. It seems to be revolving around the same story that happened thousand years ago, but have you ever heard something like this occuring in today's age? To my mind, it would make the believer doubt it overall.

Not only that, but people have started to use religion as a weapon. They use it as an excuse to be discriminatory against the oppressed, to commit crimes. This leaves me wondering whether God taught us competition or acceptance in the first place.

To my mind, religion isn't even about believing in a deity. It is a set of individual ideals which may bring the true good. Everyone's perception of virtue is different; some imagine it as unity, others as freedom. Believing in God is like believing in a role model you aspire to inherit qualities from. That is why Gods often differ from one impression to another.

So perhaps everyone is religious in their own way.
